The aim of the Clean Hull Initiative is too bring together and showcase environmentally friendly solutions from around the world as a way of combating the use of copper based anti-fouling paints and to speed up the market introduction and use of more environmentally friendly non toxic alternatives for keeping boat hulls free from fouling.

Erik Noaksson from the Jegrelius Institute said "Sweden has already banned the use of toxic paints on its East Coast (the Baltic Sea) with plans to carry the ban through the West Coast in the near future. So now is the time to start introducing a paradigm shift towards new alternatives to anti-foul paints".
